National Recreation and Park Association Celebrates Success with HEPA Standards

nrpa infographic final website 250The National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) is celebrating three years of its Commit to Health initiative -- a national campaign encouraging implementation of the National Afterschool Association's Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards, developed by the HOST Coalition, at 2,000 local park and recreation sites.

To date, over 1,250 park and recreation sites are implementing the HEPA Standards, impacting over 228,000 youth through increased access to healthy foods and increased opportunities to be physically active. A third-party evaluation confirms that park and recreation agencies are successfully demonstrating HEPA standards at their sites.

Check out the infographic and chart that showcase how the Standards have spread, and watch their video that highlights some of the work that has helped this happen and urges continued efforts around healthy out-of-school time.
